After rapping about how she was almost a parent in her new album, Nicki Minaj has opened up about getting pregnant while in high school.
In an interview with Rollingstone, Nicki told of how she fell for an older guy, who she called her first love.
The Only rapper ended up getting pregnant, and admitted getting an abortion wasn’t the easiest decision ever.
“I thought I was going to die,” Nicki confessed. “I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I’d ever gone through.”
She eventually settled on the decision to terminate the pregnancy—a decision that she admits has “haunted me all my life.” However, she feels that she made the right choice for her situation at the time.
“It’d be contradictory if I said I wasn’t pro-choice. I wasn’t ready. I didn’t have anything to offer a child.”
